Tips to Thrive

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

Start recording your blessings.

Just like the popular Sabbath School song says,

Count your blessings, name them one by one.

Count your many blessings, see what God has done.1

Feeling discouraged? Wondering if God really cares? Questioning whether He really answers prayer?

If you don’t already keep a journal, start one dedicated to praising God and counting your blessings. If you already journal your prayer requests or record meaningful experiences with God, start a new list or online document specifically for recording praises, blessings, answers to prayer, and surprises from God.

Write each item on a separate line. Number it. Be specific. Don’t be afraid to record small blessings from God, even if they seem insignificant.

Keep adding to your list weekly, or even daily. As you record your blessings, you’ll notice more of them. As you recognize everything God does for you each day, you’ll be constantly reminded of His love, protection, and favor. And you’ll always have something fresh to share!

“If the loving-kindness of God called forth more thanksgiving and praise, we would. . . . have more bestowed to praise Him for!” (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p. 317).
